The Scott County Solar Plant consists of 2,223 solar panels covering about four acres. The plant produces upwards of 840,000 kwh per year. At full capacity, the solar plant produces enough electricity to power about 170 homes on the hottest day.
The Scott County Solar Plant was mostly paid for through grants from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and USDA.
