Illinois Electric Cooperative provides several different types of wireless internet to members and non-members. Our latest generation of wireless technology, Proxim, offers 25 meg speed. We are continuing to deploy Proxim accross the service territory. Along with Proxim, we offer Purewave 6 meg wireless internet and SkyPilot 2 meg internet. The location of your residence or business will determine what wireless internet offering is available to you. Line of sight of to one of our towers or mouted equipment sites is needed for service.

The co-op is continuing to upgrade towers to the latest generation of wireless technology to offer members faster internet.

Proxim wireless internet is capable of delivering information at 25,000,000 bits of information a second. For comparison, dial-up service delivered information at 56,000 bits of information a second, at best, and generally a lot slower than that. More towers are planned to be upgraded in 2017
